January… A time of relaxing by a fireplace and sipping on some hot cocoa! And just thinking about summertime haha.

For Lauren & Wesley it was a month of new beginnings. A time when they get to look forward to sharing their life together! Having just gotten engaged, the excitement was clearly evident in the photoshoot. Pure happiness and an infectious love that could be felt for miles.

It was a very cold, but super sunny day! I was really hoping for some clouds, but the sun just puts such a big smile on everyone’s face. We met in Reston Town Center and photographed around the ice rink. Everyone was out enjoying the day. When I’m out shooting in full sun, I try to find a balance where we have nice backdrops with minimal to no people and shaded areas so Lauren & Wesley aren’t squinting all the time and hurting their eyes. The other thing that complicates a photoshoot is weather. Cold weather brings a layer of texture you can’t get in warm weather. Yet people shiver in cold and tense up when they are exposed to the cold wind. For Lauren & Wesley we wanted to show the season of their engagement, but also show a layer of elegance by shedding the winter coats and braving the elements.

Love is strong and so are Lauren & Wesley!
