Longtime Friends Virginia Home Photos - Alexandria, VA Friends Portraits

So, I’ve never done a photoshoot quite like this one before. To start, let me give you a little backstory. Five Arlington friends met in 1971 while performing musical theatre. They asked for a photoshoot because they weren’t sure if they would ever get back together again as most have moved to other states. And they just wanted one “GREAT” photo of the group to keep forever, which as Chuck put it, “We're all in our 70's so ‘forever’ is a relative term. lol.” They wanted the photoshoot to take place at Lew’s home in Alexandria before he had to move to Iowa. They wanted super super casual and candid photos with some nature and indoor photos. They wanted no posing and for the most part no looking at the camera type shots. Little did I know they were super fun, full of life, and always laughing and having the best time of their lives. You could really see how their friendship has lasted 50 years.

We started in the front yard as the sun was behind the house, which gave us some nice shade, yet the trees were still in full view of the bright sun. We moved around to capture different backgrounds and new group formations. After several scenes in the front yard, we moved to the backyard. It was a very nice, peaceful, and private backyard with lots of trees and plants. We gradually made our way up to the balcony and then after an outfit change, we started to do some interior shooting. To celebrate, we all had nice beer or cocktail in screened in porch. I stuck around while they told me stories and made me laugh before they made their way to dinner.

This was such a fun and super memorable photoshoot! I so hope I can see and photograph them together again in ten years!

Cheers to lifelong friends!

Kelly
